The J-1 Intern program provides an opportunity for foreign college or university students, as well as recent graduates within the last 12 months, to gain valuable work-based training in the U.S. Participants can engage in paid or unpaid internships for up to 12 months in their field of study. To qualify, applicants must be at 18 years old, proficient in English, and maintain good academic standing.

Interns must be foreign nationals:​

Who are currently enrolled in and pursuing studies at a foreign degree- or certificate-granting post-secondary academic institution outside the United States; or​

Who have graduated from such an institution no more than 12 months prior to their exchange visitor program start date.
J1 INTERNSHIP
USA J1 internship programs are cultural exchange programs that encourage cross-cultural interaction. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE AMERICA INTERNSHIP?
The US Department of State and the US Consulate have announced the J1 internship participation and application requirements of the candidates as follows.

Tourism Hotel Management, Food and Beverage Management, Gastronomy or Culinary, undergraduate and associate degree student or graduate,

If graduated, have at least 12 months of work or internship experience in their fields,

Advanced English for the front office department; intermediate or advanced English for food & beverage and Culinary departments,

High school graduates who have not attended undergraduate or associate degree education must have at least 5 years of work experience in the field of TourismManagement, Hotel Management, Food & Beverage Management, Gastronomy or Culinary.
